Service Description
What is Deep Listening? Deep Listening is an approach to listening that can support you as a listener to sense and respond to your own nervous system feedback. It helps you to build capacity to stay regulated in the face of inevitable challenges and stressors, thus remaining able to offer a relationally safe space to those you are supporting without you becoming overwhelmed or risking burnout. What will the course include? We will begin with exploring how to track our own somatic nervous system responses, learning how to recognise when we are at risk of becoming dysregulated. We will build a tool kit of personal practices that will increase our capacity to stay regulated whilst in the listening role. We will then turn towards the skills that will support us to be an effective listener, and the qualities that will help to create the essential relational safety and trust. As well as sharing theory each week we will practice specific elements of listening with each other. There will be also be large group discussions so that we can learn and deepen together into the extraordinary skill of deep listening. A 1-1 session with myself is included in the course where there will be a chance to explore in more depth any particular aspects of listening that you are interested in. What is the structure of the course? The course is online via zoom and will run for 6 consecutive Wednesday mornings at 10.15am - 12.15pm ~ a total of 12 teaching hours. I will record the teaching content elements of the course, however live attendance is very strongly advised because of the opportunity to practice the skills and applications. The 1-1 session with me can be booked during the course or up to 2 weeks after we complete. How much does it cost? There are three tiers to choose from. Please choose what most reflects your capacity at this point Tier 1 £290 Tier 2 £330 Tier 3 £360 If these costs are prohibitive and you are keen to attend please get in touch with me on jennyrosesmith123@gmail.com and we can work something out. My Deep Listening approach is informed by my trainings in neuroscience, mindfulness, Hakomi and humanistic counselling. My professional experience has come through my roles of training and supervisiong large teams on crisis services and facilitating countless other professionals in many varied roles to listen to themselves. And most of all from having listened deeply to myself in my work as a mental health practitioner, a facilitator and a therapist.
